Kansas Carry Laws?
Just moved to Kansas and would like to know from any L.E.O.'s how I can legally carry a handgun inside my vehicle, (loaded/concealed, unconcealed/loaded etc. Thanks.

Hate to inform you, but Kansas is one of the six states with NO provision for concealed carry. Is simply illegal.

Hate to inform you, but Lawrence is about the most liberal city around ... cant even have a gun show there because none of the promoters will put up with the crap.
Most citys will "let" you carry a gun in the vehicle as long as the ammo isn't accessable also (ie. in the trunk) , out of city limits, I beleive you can have a loaded firearm anywhere in the vehicle ... or at least that used to be how it was.
Above is also correct, Kansas has no provision for concealed carry except for LEO nor any type of select-fire or silencers ... too manypeople were shooting cows at night or something maybe ... short shotguns are also big no-no but not sure about SBR's, everybody says they are illegal too, but no one can show me where ... everything else is spelled out but nothing on SBR's ...

Do a lot of checking before you carry a firearm in any fashion. It seems you can carry an unloaded and cased firearm in your trunk (maybe your back seat). Open carry may, in some circumstances, be legal but that doesn't mean you won't get arrested. Check out www.packing.org for more info. Did somebody move Kansas to the east side of Kalifornia? If concealed carry is important to you, MOVE! Lots of luck.

Several cities have laws prohibiting carrying a loaded unconcealed firearm inside the car with you, but as far as state law you can carry an unconcealed, loaded firearm anywhere (except as prohibited by cities). if your out in the country driving around you can have a loaded pistol in plain sight in the seat next to you, but not under the seat. If you get out in the smaller towns, there's still plenty of good ol' boys with their loaded long guns in the window rack of their pick-up. Don't mess with those folk.
Kansas does have some laws that should be changed, but I'm thankful it's still legal to go to a gunshow and buy a handgun via personal sale, without any background check. I've said that when they start requiring gun transfers to go through an FFL is the day my collection is complete.
