You might also consider a Kel-Tec P-11. Mine functions flawlessly and only weighs 21 ounces loaded. You can check them out at www.ktog.org and at www.kel-tec.com.

They are all good quality firearms. You have to hold each one and see which feels best to you.

Out of the little list there, the only one I saw that I would carry on duty would be the XD or its twin the HS2000. They are wonderful. However just for plinking around, I think you'll be delighted with the feel and accuracy of the CZ. They make a hell of a handgun.

I'd go with the Ruger. In all likelihood the gun probably could use a bit of work to bring it up to its potential.

What most people don't seem to understand is that it is makes much more sense to buy a high quality revolver (or a slightly used high quality auto) if you are on a budget.

Of the four you listed I would take the Kahr. But, thats at the high end of all thouse you listed. I would stay with the stainless, I hear the blue wears off too fast. I love my Kahr.

Of the choices you listed, I'd take the Ruger. It is a great gun for the money, reasonable accurate, and you'll NEVER have a jam.

The Kel-tecs are great too for concealed carry, but if you plan regular trips to the range, I heard it's not a daily use gun and not very accurate beyond a few yards.

Still don't discount the used autos. For that price range ($400-$500) you can find a nice used Sig or Glock 26 if you keep your eyes peeled, and a 9mm in those makes are well worth every penny. Only draw back is you have to hide your credit cards and be patient till one pops up. Email me if you are interested and I can try to hunt one down for ya.

My gun is prettier than yours, and it's a Glock!

I'd 2nd Badboy on the Kel-Tec P11. It's the smallest 9mm I know of, very light, dependable and is accurate enough for what it was designed for. It's not a target gun, but for ~$250, you can't touch it. Plus you can use the S&W 59 or 69 hi-caps in them. I don't have or have not shot any of the guns you listed so won't comment on them.
    Good luck, GD

Personally I would take the Ruger P93, but that's my personal opinion since that's what I carry when not taking a revolver. May be a little bulky for some concealed applications for others but just right for me. I did consider the Kel-Tec P-11 for better concealability but it just did not measure up to the old reliable brick with a trigger. Theres a lot of high-end used (some hardly used) compact 9mm's out there at very reasonable prices, that may be a consideration.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I've been seeing lots of good reports on the Springfield. For someone not already patterned on the 1911 style, it seems to be one of the safest options. I use a Ruger KP95 and find it to quite acceptable in terms of accuracy and controls. If grip size is a problem, the p95 grip is smaller than the p93. The are fairly large and might be a problem for some to conceal. Otherwise, the size makes them fairly easy to shoot.

    SixStringer,

I have the Kahr k9 stainless with night sights. Before you buy make sure you try the trigger. Some love it, some don't.
