Question!!!???
I sold a hand gun from my personal collection thru GB auctions. As GB states I do not need FFL to sell a gun thru them. I shipped the gun to a FFL holder for the buyer. The buyer just called me and said that his dealer must have a FFL from me to do the transfer or he will turn it over to our states police. Now what do I do?

the best you can do is to have the buyer contact the ATF and get a copy of the regs or get them on line. I understand your frustration, this ahs been addressed here several times before and the bottom line is the receiver needs a FFl not the seller, his dealer may be has a policy that he has to receive from a dealer. 0 -

Not only that, you can't send him a copy of an FFL now because Your FFL Dealer didn't send it ... it would be fraud for him to do so now (he would have had to log it in as received from you and he would to log it out as shipped to the receiving dealer ... he has no proof of shipping so on his next ATF audit they would be all over him.
I'm not a dealer but work with one frequently and this is how he's explained it to me. I was in a simular situation once and he called the receiving dealer for me and kinda grilled this other dealer for making things tougher than they already are ...

I'd tell him to call the State Police and let him make an ass of himself. Why would he threaten the police and not the ATF. Sounds like an FFL who doesn't have a clue as to the rules. 0 -
Marsye - I too have run into this before, when shipping an AR15 to Texas. I Emailed the FFL and also called and explained to him that We are not yet required by law to have only a dealer ship our firearms. We are still free to ship firearms but can only ship to a dealer or manufacture. Tell him to contact his local BATF and police. I do not like dealers who believe they can make up their own rules....

Marsye, try contacting the recv FFL and explain to them that you will provide them with a photocopy of your drivers license and a statement that you have shipped it to them for transfer to the buyer. This way they have something other than a shipping label to log the gun into their books with.

I was thinking about buying a weapon here at gunbroker but before I bid I called my local FFL and they told me they could only receive a weapon that was shipped from an FFL and that their paperwork must be inside the package they receive. Figured after I foot the bill for 2 FFL's to touch it and shipping it was cheaper by far just to buy it here. FFL's here in California also want a ton to transfer a weapon shipped in from out of state. Now have no interest in all that hassle. 0 -
Here is a question to ask a dealer who wants a FFL when receiving firearms, "do you have a copy of your distributors FFL on file?". 0
