Springfield Armory Scope
How much should I pay for a 6-20X56mm lighted reticle mil-dot scope from Sprinfield. I decided my PSS needs new eyes and I want a mil-dot this time. Suggestions to alternatives will be happily considered.

Does anyone know if Springfield Armory still makes/repairs their scopes? I bought a GEN 2 Gov model years ago and has been a great scope but now its not holding zero at all. I left them an email but who knows if they will get back to me. Thanks 0 -
I cant tell you how far to stay away from Springfeild Scopes ... they are cool in concept, but junk. I'm going to have to send my 2nd generation 4-14X56 back for the 4th time. First it was the reticle came loose, less than 100 rounds, then about 500 rounds later it wouldn't hold a zero; I don't know what they did. Next the HOUSING for the elevation knob came loose. Now the scale for elevation spins around on the housing and you cant take the knob off to re-glue it or what-ever.
STAY AWAY FROM SPRINGFEILD SCOPES
I got one of the "Super Sniper" scopes from www.swfa.com its made for Tasco in Japan, but I would put it up aginst a Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Swarvoski or Kahles any day of the week and they are only about $300. They are mil-dot but don't have the lighted reticle or bubble-level in them ... originally they were a Navy contract scope that cost $900 and and worth that.
What ever you do:

I was going to ask the same question as I have been looking for a scope for my .280 Mauser Had a Bushnell that could not take the recoil. I looked at springfields but got a Redfield 16x44 I want to try first...

I never had any mechanical problems and the clarity is
beautiful BUT the WEIGHT at almost 2 full pounds and mounted HIGH
makes any rifle want to flip over!!! If you want a mil dot buy
a 13 oz matte black LEUPOLD 6x with AO IMHO DW0 -
Read what Kimberkid said ten times. Then get a Burris 6x24 Black Diamond in Ballistic Mill dot.

Look at the leupold long range scopes @ www.natchezss.com. They have great prices on them. I would suggest the Burris if you want to save $100. Mine are GREAT, I would recommend burris scopes over and over. Now for a PSS, take a look at the Leupold Mark IV in either 10 or 16x. That scope will bring a fine rifle such as yours to the front of the pack.

I don't feel to well,,,,I just put a 4X14X56 1st generation
on my AR-10T,,and a 4X14X40 on my new Bushmaster Varminteer.
I used an ol' Weaver on the AR-10 to break it in while I was
waiting for the Springfield scope,,,maybe just shoulda left it
on,,,,if what you guys say is true,,and I do value your opinion,
then,,,,woops gotta go,,think I'm going to,,,,,hurl!!

Leupold Tactical 4X14 or
Burris with the mildots
AVOID Springfield scopes.

I've got a Springfield 1st gen 4-14x56 on my Rem 700 .308, and a 10x56mm Mil-dot on my Car-A3 .223rem, haven't had problems yet. You guys got me really scared though, I spent alot of cash on them scopes, and alot of hours working for that cash. Please please pray to the scope gods not to let my scopes break. ooooh, the humility....
