don't laugh at me
i'm embarassed to be asking this. i've been collecting guns for awhile, mostly rifles and revolvers. well i found a high point 45 acp for so cheap i couldn't pass it up. well my problem is i can't figure out how to get the slide off. it's been driving me nuts for awile now. if anyone will help me, i would be very greatful. my email is creynolds115@charter.net . cody

According to the manual,....
Unload pistol and visually check chamber, move slide to the rearmost position, allow slide to move forward 1/8th inch, exposing slide retainer pin. Using a 1/8 pin punch, remove retainer pin from the frame. Lift slide up until it stops. Hold rear of slide up and push forward, this removes the slide assembly from the frame.
Reassemble in reverse order.

take all the plastic off of it, then use gunscrubber and re-lube. 0 -
ameriskin; Are you converting it to a Carbine? I have had one for a considerable time and other than normal cleaning have had no reason to "Field Strip" it. It looks and feels like a block of iron but I have never had a problem with it. I have thought about buying a carbine conversion kit for it and thats why I am wondering if thats what your intentions are.

just wanted to clean it up good. not only do they look like a block of iron they feel like it too, lol. i had thought of the conversion, but not too seriously. i just wanted to get some of the grime out of the slide, i got as much as i can with out stripping it. thanks for the replies guys, cody 0
