Can someone explain the different size series.

  It would seem, from what I see on some forums and kit distributors, that you won't know until you put a rifle together then measure. The people distributing kit guns state that they have a bolt exchange policy because the bolt will probably be incorrect. However cosmetically as you look at the receiver, the Type I has a weight reduction cut (like a router channel) along the bottom of the receiver. Type II has this channel that comes to a "V" toward the back. Type III has no channel. Try www.gunboards.com click message boards then military semi-auto page 2 has a discussion on how to measure.
