You were told right. The 1927 Systema is a Colt gun made on Colt machinery in Argentina. Don't confuse the Systema with the Ballista Molina where the parts may or may not interchange.

    Rock,

I purchased a 1911A1 Argetine from Southern Ohio Gun many years ago.
I opted for the "select" at an extra ten bucks. Came with all matching numbers. Blue was about 96% strong. Small import mark on mag
well. After cleaning, it did not function worth a darn. Changed the clip and it was completely reliable. Apparently, perhaps the "lips" on the clip=11.25mm were not in spec. I shoot it all the time. Yes, the parts do interchange w/Colt. I have checked this. I just believe the clip was the problem. Not an expert...my three cents worth. Makes a great shooter at little cost. Do not buy the parked/rebuilt ones.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. Thought it might be a cheaper way to get a platform to build on.

The one I had was a Colt all the way.
I have read the Argentines used more metal in the slide and frame and the gun actually was better made a weighed a couple ounces more.
Excellent gun, but would produce pretty good hammer bite.

I had one, it shot great! The only problem I ran into, was that I had to polish the feed ramp to get it to function every time. After that, it worked great, it was dependable, and all after market parts fit fine.

Thanks guys, that's great...I kind of figured I was going to get hammered for asking about an Argentine copy. But I appreciate your help.

I bought mine about six years ago from a gunshop for $200. I saw a refinished one the other day in Gander Mountain for about $699. Go figure.

    Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com
