Been using a Winchester model 88 in .308 for the last 10 years for deer hunting. With handloads, 165 grain bullet, it groups 1 1/4" at a hundred yards. I have never had any problems with it and I enjoy using it.

Thanks sjc1, I'm going to try and make a trade for it. My new rule is that when I want a different gun , something else has to go. Deciding what that is is the hard part.

Hey Take a look at the Browning Leaver gun I have one in 308 and it will put 3 in a 1/4" and I bet a new browning will cost less that that win. and a lot more gun.

I prefer the Model 88 to any other lever. It has a short stroke action, rotary bolt, and the trigger comes down with the action not catching gloves etc . It has no exposed hammer like the browning, and mine is very accurate. I liked the first one I bought so well I have a new one in the box (just in case). Savage and Browning take a close second.

In addition, the Winchester sells now for about 4-5 times original price and expect it to increase faster than any of the others.
