a lady showed me an old S&W ser# 186 902 and asked me what it was worth. it was a 6 shot revolver possibly nickel finish. to eject the shells, you raised up on the rear sight ever so slightly. the barrel hinged down and the further down you pushed the barrel the ejector rod brought the casings out. i looked in my book and it looked very close to the model 1 S&W but the book said that model had a hand ejector.any info at all will be helpful.
    sorry no pictures

Would it help if I said it was a 38 special?

From what is left it looks like a Victory mod. 10. can you make out any of the serial number, The victory was a sandblasted mod 10 with a parkerized finish, that mod was discontinued in 1945.

I have all the parts it's just open now as I want to replace the cylinder stop (sloppy from wear) if it's a K frame then it will be part #490-215-080 page 415 of the Brownells catalog.
    the finish is blue.

I think it is safe to say it is a mod. 10, a early production run.

I have a S&W 38 Spec. M&P Model I bought new in Feb. 1953 and it has a "C" letter prefix in front of the numbers in the Ser. No. I also have a S&W 38 Spec. Model 10 That I bought new in July 1969 and it has the letter "D" in front of the numbers in the Ser. No. I would guess your gun is a lot older than these although it resembles my old M&P Model. Just my 2 cents worth.

If it is a 38 special, that s/n makes it a .38 Hand Ejector Military & Police Model of 1905, Fourth Change. Or more commonly known as the M&P. That s/n would likely make production aboutnlate 20's or early 30's. It is actually the pre model 10. Some Model 10 parts may not exactly fit it. This is especially apparent in the ORIGINAL grips.

    Hope this helps.

The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!
