HK SP89 Value
Thinking about adding an HK SP89 to my collection. There is one on the block, #3749627 with starting price of $3500 in like new condition. Are they really worth that much?? The blue book list it at $3250 for 100%. Am I missing something? Thanks, GD

If you want one maybe an auction is not the way to go. I'm not sure if I can post the site to look at but it's still possible to by Guns in America from a dot Com site. 0 -
They are cool looking aren't they? I never understood what they were intended for and I suspect the rest of the market reacted in the same way.

Kimberkid's memory must be better than mine. I used to sell those back when they were still imported. Dealer cost was around $1000 or more even back then. They started coming in to the country in 1990 and were halted in September 1993. Their retail in 1993 was over $1300. Anyway, they seem to be going in or around that $3000-3500 range. That has been where they have been for the last 7-8 years. Prices vary depending on condition and accessories.
I do remember when the HK rifles (91, 93, & 94) were running from $450-700, but that goes back to the mid 1980's before the prices started going up. By 1988, you were looking at $750-900 for the same rifles. Then of course in March of 1989 the prices jumped into the upper teens to as much as the $2000+ range almost overnight. The fact that you can still find them for not a whole lot more than that now 13 years later is amazing in itself.0 -
Thanks guys,
I think I'll look around before I put in a bid on that one.
I'll start with the next gun show next month. GD0 -
1992, New in box was $950 from a major gun store in Arizona. Seemed like too much back then.
Shoulda, woulda, coulda.....
