bipods for groundhog shooting
I would like to purchase a bipod for my .223 to help with accuracy when i hunt groundhogs. do i need one that swivels from side to side and up and down and also compenstes for unlevel ground. the harris bipod i'm looking at for$70.00 just has legs that pull out, but you can't pan with it or follow game, you have to physically pick up the whole gun/tripod and move it and reset up if the game moves. any expertise would help

I have shot hundreds of groundhogs using Harris Bi-pods on an assortment of rifles from H&R 22Jet and Hornet to Remington 700's in everything up to 30-06. I've never had the swivel models! They didn't maake them when I started using them. If I was starting out I'd probably opt for the swivel kind. After you get it make sure to go to the bench and shoot the gun using the bi-pod. Sometimes the gun will perform differently using the bi-pod rather than a sandbag. Check it out! GHD 0 -
groundhog devastation is right, check your rifle on target with the bipod connected. I have had the swivel bipod from Harris for many years and it has worked very well for me on Coyotes. 0 -
I personally use a swivel model for coyotes and prairie dogs in Arizona. Gives you alot more flexibility and movement.
