mballai, your story is very similar to mine. I thought the whole ideal of a "plastic" gun was silly. I remember thinking there was no way I would ever own one. Then I fired a friend's G21. I bought one the next week. I have purchased five others since then and currently the G23 is my favorite of the bunch. I still prefer my 1911's overall, but the G23 is my current house gun.

Personally, I think you GAINED your bearings when you bought a Glock
I have a Glock 22 that shoots better and more accurately than my Sig229 or my Ruger P89. They're both great guns, but my Glock is still my favorite. It might not have all the pretty curves and buttons of some others, but it's the best shooter (IMHO). You also picked a great caliber. You have better stopping power than a 9mm and bigger capacity than the 45.

They have a barrel which is seated lower than many handguns, so the muzzleflip is greatly reduced. The plastic may take some getting used to, but that sucker is TOUGH. The grip does suck if you don't have the Hogue sleeve on it, but once you have it, it feels very natural.

It's not a coincidence that many police departments use the Glock. They don't have a great reputation for nothing!

Phew! That said, I think it is a good idea to have a hi-cap, just because they are still available. Buy used if you can, the price of a new one is ridiculous. Other than to have and take to the range, you really don't need one. It's up to you if you feel $70 is worth it.

Like the others, I swore I would never have a gun as ugly as a Glock. Then the 21 came out holding 13 rounds...wow! I tried one, liked it, and now have six. The Glock and S&W revolvers are my passion...but I do own a Custom Shop Colt 1911.

Buy the plus two magazine extensions for your 10 round pre ban mags if you have any. They are available at Glockmeister.com. Mine work great.

Well done is better than well said.

I'd buy an extension, but I think that would get me in hot water with the current Clintonista legislation that's still in effect. I'll probably buy a hi-cap mag just to thumb my nose at the idiots who passed such a stupid ban.

I started with a Glock 22, next purchase was a model 27, could not resist when they came out with the Glock 36. Next had to acquire .357 Sig barrels for the 22 and 27.

Who knows may even buy another someday.

I carry A Glock 23 with night sights and shoot a Glock 17 in SSP of IDPA. I know this sounds strange, but I don't think Glocks are ugly. They shoot where you aim and are very reliable. Fantastic Plastic!!!

airborne, I converted my G27 to 357Sig and have never looked back. The 40 is a good round, but the 357 is awesome. I use the Pierce plus 2 extension mags which gives me (with my big paw) a much better grip.

Enjoy your Glocks... I'm looking for a 36 now

I own a G23 with factory night sights and have found that the Glock is a pleasure to shoot in spite of it's plastic parts. More accurate than the SIG 229? Wow. I used to carry a SIG 228 and felt that it was probably the most accurate gun I've ever fired. As far as hi-cap magazines go, I don't feel that such a magazine is worth the $100 that they generally go for. Three extra rounds for all that? No way. I'll just carry a spare magazine. It's all personal preference. The average gunfight won't require a reload but many believe in being prepared for the worst. I would do this by carrying the extra magazine. I don't carry now that I live in a liberal county but, for the price of a G23 hi-cap mag, you can buy several more 10-rounders that will hold equally-lethal ammunition.
