Jeweling is done on bolts, mag wells, triggers, over & under & S X S shotguns. jeweling is round swirls that overlap each other, seen mostly on high grade guns

Other than the cosmeticics of jeweling, one thing it does is to hold lubricant which will smooth up the operation of the pieces.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

I have "jeweled" several rifle bolts and the sides of hammers on some SA Rugers. It is beneficial (holds oil better) especially on parts that are polished but left in the white. Its easy enought to do with a drill press, small wire brush and grit. Round stuff like rifle bolts are a little more trouble to keep the pattern straight but brownels sells a jig (or you can make your own). I would stick with small areas.

I have an S & W Model 27-2, 357 Magnum, new except for jeweling and tuning. These fellows here like to tell me it is not worth as much as firearms that are new in the box. they say original will bring more $$$. Years back the best thing I can tell you to do is look at all the rifle bolts that have been turned. They do it because it works better. I can tell you for a fact that jeweling and tuning, will make a revolver, that much smoother.

For you do-it-yourself guys out there--can gun parts be jeweled with a Dremel tool, and if so, what would the procedure be ?

The guy wants about $20 each to jewel em. Not sure I want to fork out $60 bucks for something that might not look that great
