It is a Swedish Mauser. The disc on the stock tells bore diameter measured to the hundredth of an inch on your gun, overall bore condition, and something to do with ballistics that was never really utilized. It shoots 6.5X55 Swedish Mauser.

Oh as to value- there are several variants, but assuming you have a 1896 long rifle, excellant shape, matching, no more than $250, probably around $190+. It could also be a 96/38 shortened long rifle.

jonk, It is a 96 and I don't think it's shortened any!! The wood is better than the metal. There are some rust spots on the barrel but the bore is super!! The bolt has some pitting. Where could I sell the thing? GHD

The cheat sheet is calibration data to correct the sights to the trajectory of the newer lighter bullet.

For a great translation of the stock disc on a Swede, try the following:

It is a M/96 swedish mauser. It uses 6.5X55 ammo if its full length the batrrel should be 29.1 inches long. Thats fron the face of the barrel to the muzzle. They're selling for $169 in rough condition and as the qualuity goes up so does the price. Now I wish I had bought more of these baby's. They were selling for $69 at a local sporting goods store! was too selective I only bought the matching numbered ones!!!Now I wish I had bought them all!!!
