Which Scope to use?
Have just bought a mini thirty to use as a varmint gun. (Groundhogs, Coyotes, Roving bands of one-legged bicycle thieves, etc.) any opinions one which scope to use?

The Mini-30 out-of-the-box is usually not a precision instrument. For a light, fast handling carbine such as this, and your stated intended use, I would want to be able to quickly acquire the sight picture while having a reasonable amount of magnification for the useful range. My choice, therefore, would be a fixed 4 or 6 power. The brand is entirely dependent on your budget. I think a 6-24X variable will exceed your rifle's practical range and practical accuracy. 0 -
I have a 6X fixed burris compact on mine and consider it ideal. It would be hard to argue with a 4X. As the previous post indicated, most of these guns are not precision tack drivers nor is the cartrige, so any more magnification is likely a waste of money. 0 -
The advise above is in line with my thinking, HOWEVER, from natchezss.com, you can get an AETEC with the illuminated recticle for approx $150. Then later, you can put it on something else. For the money, they are very clear.
Might I also suggest a red dot? Those are nifty on semi-auto, non-tackdrivers.
When in doubt...empty the magazine!!0
