Colt caliber question

I just picked up a NIB Detective Special in
.32 Colt New Police. Since it is NIB with
test target, papers and box I do not entend
to shoot it, but was wondering, is there another
name for this caliber.

  That is kind of like Glock calling their Sig 357s, Auto 357.
