Colt Sistema 1911 ?'s
I just got a Colt Sistema 1927 Argentine 1911A1 45 Semi-Auto. How can you tell if it has been arsenal refinished? It has the Argentine Coat of Arms, but no import marks. The Serial Number (89,000 range) is the same on the barrel, slide, and frame. It has SIST. COLT CAL. 11.25 MM MOD. 1927 on one side of the slide, the other has DGFM (FMAP); what does dgfm fmap mean?
It is blue (about %80 or better) and not parkerized, so I'm guessing it's not a refurb. Also, what date of mfg was the 89k serial number range?

Roy Sorry I can't answer any of your questions I was just wondering where you got your sistema. I got one the other day from JLD enterprizes. Grade one it is in very good condition 0 -
Direccion General De Fabricaciones Miltares (Fabrica Militar De Armas Portatiles). As for the refinished part of your question.... if it was well done it would really be hard to tell without seeing the piece. The original blue was not too different from U.S. made World War I Model 1911s. A heavy, medium gloss blue. I own two of these pistols and have owned two others, and all were in the 75-85% of original finish condition. If yours is in 100%, I'd be suspicious. Reblued guns will usually show various amounts of rounding of sharp edges and corners and faint or blurred lettering; but a really good job can be hard to detect. In any event, you have one of the very best pistols ever made. 0 -
Thanks for the replies. It's not %100, it's about %85. I took of the grips and found the JLD markings on it, so I gues it came from JLD. Most of the ones I have seen are parkerized, this one has a blue slide and slightly dull frame. Neat gun for the money; I paid less than what JLD has them for.

I have 4 of them and they are very well made, I used one as the base on which I built my .45 Target pistol, and found it worked out great!
