Has anyone put a.920 barrel on a 10-22 and how much,if any did accuracy improve?

How much is a lot? ie: .250 moa @100 yd? "Looks better" isn't worth anything if the gun is too heavy to carry around to actually shoot ground squirrels with.

Big improvement over the factory barrel, just one of those cheap butler creek ones too. That and it looks really cool.

I get a group you can cover with less than a dime at 50yds. Butler creek barrel and CCI Greentags.

ok, heres some evidence: installed a Kimber fluted barrel on my 10/22, barrel free floats in the stock (boyds thumbhole stock). using a burris 3-9 scope with fine crosshairs i can put all 10 rounds into a hole smaller than the diameter of a pencil at 50 yards. at 100 yards with no strong crosswind i can keep them in a hole the size of a penny. won first place in 2 categories at a turkey shoot in La Veta Colorado last year. 0 -

I think the reason the are so much more accurate is because they handle heat better than the thinner barrel.
As the Barrel heats up, it expands, and pushes against the wood. As a result, your shot start drifting upward. Just a thought.
Yes, it does look much better. Remember if you get a .920 barrel for a stock 10-22, you will have ot replace the stock with one that will fit it.

only other thing done to the rifle was volquartsen trigger kit, lightened up the pull to about 3 pounds (factory was about twice that). otherwise nothing. i think the heavy barrels do handle heat better, but quality ones are also built to tighter standards than the factory thin barrels. chambers are tighter, bore is more consistent and rifling is cut cleaner. this, with the facct that the heavy barrels probably do not tend to vibrate/whip with the recoil make them much more accurate. my .02 0 -
I just picked up a SS factory ruger 10/22 target and I cannot believe how accurate it is. Probley the aftermarket barrels are better as has been explained above. But even from the factory right out of the box these bull barrels shoot excelent at 25 yards. With CCI Blazers a one inch group at 100 yards...unbelievable. I bought some target rounds but haven't used them yet becuase I feel there is still a lot of me involved in the groups. Biger barrels are better!
