16 gauge 7/8 oz reloading info
Does anyone have any good recipes for reloading 16 gauge shotshells with 7/8 ounces of shot? Specifically, I need to develop a low pressure, high velocity, spreader load for a light weight shotgun that has a full choke.

Hey texas billy. Before I got a nice old Model 12 16ga with IMp. cyl
I took card wads and divided the shot charge in thirds and it opened the full up about 30 percent. Using smaller shot worked better than no 6. If your gun isn't agreat collecter consider cutting the barrel off 2 inches. You'll never miss inside 30 yards!!!0 -
I have a S x S choked IC & mod, and load my own hunting shells for it. I always have some spreaders in the pocket. I would recommend that you call Ballistic Products, Inc. and ask for their catalog. Or check them out at www.ballisticproducts.com. I use several of their loads found in "The Sixteen Gauge Manual", along with the X-Stream spreader insert. This gives nice wide patterns at shorter ranges, and still allows you to use the chokes as they are with standard shells. Mix & match, and you will have all scenarios covered. Good luck.
