Ithaca model 37 -16 ga
I have a like new Ithaca model 37 (slide action) in 16 gage. It has a
serial number of 55637, but it has a Herter's variable choke on it. Are these factory? It also has a ventilated rib, nice checkering on grip and forearm, along with engraved receiver (typical dog, pheasants on one side, and ducks on the other.) I do not have any Ithaca books to tell me how old this is or worth. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

5 digit number would most likely be prewar or right at the start of WWII. Choke is not factory and will detract from the value. Given every thing else is in good shape I'd say bout 175-250. Hope this helps. Maybe somebody else has more info.

I picked up one dated to 1952 in about 90% at a local gunshow. I gave $150 out the door for it. Hope this helps

go to www.ithacagun.com They have a section where you can date it by the serial number. That is definately and old shotgun, and the chokes are aftermarket
