Oklahoma gun question

Hi All,
I'm in Okla on business, those who've read my posts in the past
know that I am a NJ resident, anyway, I was shopping at two large
gun stores here in Oklahoma City and when I inquired about buying
a lever action rifle (same rifle in both stores), The salesman
in store #1 told me it was against Okla state law to sell me any gun.
I went to store #2 and same thing only this time the salesman told
me it was a violation of federal law to sell me the rifle. I checked
with ATF and Oklahoma Attorney General but could find no such
prohibition. Do any of you members have any info on this?
I would appreciate it, and Charlie, the Tulsa show was great.

  Oklahoma does not have a law against sales to out of staters (On long guns) I think you have a case of the sales people having encephelarectumitis. As an Oklahoma resident and former FFL it is permissable to sell long guns to nonresidents if they are over 18 and they can legally buy them in their home state

  Thanx for the info Saxon and Wip;
  I have the federal statute info in writing, and also the state
  info (Title 21 O.S.) and am waiting on a reply from OK Attorney Genl.
  There is one thing in the OK statutes (21 O.S. 1288) regarding
  contiguous state purchases but, I believe that went out with
  the firearm owner protection act of 1986.
  Anyway thanks for the info
