MWG Drums

I recently bought a AC-556 Ruger and see that there are 90 round drums available. Also for my AR. Does anyone have any experience with these drums?

  I have had a few, still have one, they are nice but rather expensive anymore. Never had any feeding problems with them. They do take a bit of time and effort to load. The magazine loading assist tool that comes with them is suppose to be for the last few rounds. What in particular do you want to know?

  Thanks for the reply. Yes, they are a little pricey. I was mainly interested in proper feeding - especially in the full auto 556. Also was interested on durability and overall quality.

  I don't know about full auto, but they work fine in the Mini-14 I have. One interesting thing about them, because they hang to the side of the firearm they would seem to be improperly balanced, but they are actually cradled by the left arm when firing from the shoulder. Actually quite comfortable. They also have some advantages over the Beta C-Mag for the AR15. The Beta mag rattles when you walk, while the MWG drum is nice and quite. I was tempted to mention I thought if you used stripper clips and a mag loader, you could probably put out more rounds over a five or ten minute period by using 30 round mags rather than the drum. I think that's probably true, as the drum takes a while to load and gets progressively harder the more you put in it. But the drum has it's uses.
