Unidentified Mauser??? Help...
I have this old cheap sporterized mauser my dad picked up at some auction, and I can't figure out what type of ammo its chambered for.
On the reciever is marked Fabrica De Armas it has a small Crown with a B in the middle. Under this it has Oviedo and then 1902 under it.
The serial # is I 9351 and the barrel has matching. Has original rear flip up sight going from 400-2000 meters I guess.
Any help would help

Oviedo = Spain, Spanish Mauser, most likely in 7x57 when originally built. Only a guess without seeing it and measuring the bore. 0 -
I believe that Mr. Snow has made the right call....Best...Captain Kirk

Thanks, I was wondering why that 8mm cartridge wasn't fitting all the way in...

Measure the bore. while it may have started out life as a 7x57 a lot of those were converted to the 308 CTME round (same size as a 308win but even lower pressure than the 7.62 NATO round
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I prefer one round to the head.0
