Why not remove the butt plate and then use a slip over style?

    Gunny6, was it a slip-on type pad ? I have checked
CheaperThanDirt about 4 times, looking under any recoil
pad as well as all items applying to M1A or M14 and didn't
find anything. Was it a Butler Creek or Pachmayr or ????

    Thanks !

Gunny6, I did find an M1A recoil pad on the internet, however, after a couple of pointed questions the company rep finally admitted that although their advertisement implies it is something other than stock (read: better than Springfield), it is in reality, the exact stock pad used on all synthetic Springfield stocks. That explains why their on-line picture looks exactly like the as-shipped, stock unit. It took me several iterations to ask the e-x-a-c-t-l-y right question phrased just the right way to acquire a legitimate answer.

It almost... looks like a slip-on is the only answer, unfortunately. The Pachmayr and Butler Creek slip-on offerings all have a max internal width of 1.72 inches which is unfortunate as the M1A stock pad is larger than that.

    Still looking for options...
    Thanks !

Gunny6, thanks for taking the time to research. I had not looked at that section. The pad is the same as the other site I noted on another response. It is a replacement for the standard synthetic stock pad as sold by Springfield.

Who knows, maybe I should buy it and use it as a basic for a garage "custom" unit... hummm... that's a thought !

    Thanks for the help !
The quest goes on (and on)...

I have a recoil pad that I took off of my M1A Scout, it is new. I like the old metal flip up style. If you are interested in it, e-mail oneshot@nnex.net
