The Jennings is not known for durability or reliability. They are cheap junk.If you need to stay inexpensive (not cheap), you might want to consider either a Kel-Tec P11 9mm or a Makarov in 9x18. 0 -
Yep, they stink. Reliable and Jennings should not be used in the same sentence. There should be a law. I agree with the Keltec P-11. For $200 get the Keltec P-11For $300 get a new Ruger P95 or P89For $400 get a used Smith&WessonFor $500 get a used Glock 17 0r 19For $600 get a used Sig 226Just some ideas and what to expect on priceBy the way, I've heard good things about the Baby Eagle, so if you have your heart set there, go for it. See if any local ranges have it and give it a try. I also HIGHLY reccomend the Sig 226. If you try one, YOU WILL buy one. I shot one last week, and I'm having one delivered on Wednesday.

The Baby Eagle, CZ, or the Witness would all be decent choices. The Witness gets its basic design from the CZ. The Baby Eagles parts are assembled in Israel. The parts come from the factory in Italy where the Witness is made. The Witness used to be called a TZ75 (from FIE) or TA90 (from Excam). Either way it was developed from copying the CZ75, which at that time was not available in the US unless it was purchased in Europe and brought back to the US by the individual (usually a soldier) who bought it.So all of the configurations you mention have a relationship of one to the other. The Jennings however is not even remotely in the same league. The are questionable at best in reliability, quality, and durability. I would never trust my life to one, nor would I ever encourage anyone to do so. If the only money you have is enough to buy a Jennings, you'd be better off spending that amount on a well used quality revolver or surplus pistol (Makarov, PA63, CZ70, Star Super B, or a host of others). For those out there who own a Jennings and like it, I mean no insult. However if the truth be known, and money was no object would you still prefer the Jennings over a Beretta, Glock, Sig, S&W, Ruger, Colt, Kimber, H&K, etc...??? If money was not an issue, I doubt that you would. I rest my case. 0 -

I agree with everyone here. The Jennings pistols are junk. Your other choices are good ones. If price is the main consideration, look at a Ruger.

Listen to everyone here and stay far away from Jennings. I bought one for my wife a while back, took it to the range, on the 2nd clip and 2nd shot, it blew apart in her hands upon firing! Luckily, no one was hurt. Because of that, she will not shoot any other semi (other than our Ruger Mark II's, which are built like tanks). Others one this forum are probably tired about writing about their horror stories about these POS paperweights that it's not funny.
No disrespect to faithful Jennings owners out there. Just stating the fact that happened. And from what I've read in previous posts, it sounded pretty common.
Spend the extra money and get something else. I recommend the Witness. Very hard to beat for under $400. GD0 -

They should have a special category in the shooter's bible for Jennings, Lorcin, Davis, ect. The "Saturday Night Special" category.
Not saying that they aren't fun little turds to mess with, I have my share just like every other gun nut, but they aren't suitable for defense.

I get requests every day, several from past customers. Biggest request has to be for the firing pins....
I have found that the older Jennings guns were more reliable than the newer Bryco guns.
I would have to say that the majority of us on this board shoot more than 50 rounds a year. I think that a lot of the people who buy the jennings/bryco/raven/davis/lorcins are individuals who do not shoot much and want something that they can afford. There are several who can't afford anything over $75 to $100. Some I think are just going with the hype and feel that they need to own something, cause they might not get to in the future, and don't plan on using it much.
I go for the quality items, but then I shoot a lot and use them day to day. Just depends on what they want them for vs. what we think that they want them for.
Just my $.02 over 20 yrs in the business. Not much profit but I've enjoyed the hell out of it.

I tried asking before but got no response from other members, maybe you know.
I noticed the same drop in reliability in newer model Jennings. Several years ago, were Bryco and Jennings separate companies that merged or were they always the same? If they were seperate and merged I wonder if that's what did it...
