Very Good 4X scope

I want to mount a 4X scope on a .308 rifle. What are my choices? I want one that will be with the rifle the life of the rifle. The rifle is bolt action. I am looking for realiability. Tell me what I want.

  what do you want to do with the rifle???? Long range??? Hunt??? we need to know.. There are many 4X youn could get... What about money...Lol

  I have a4.5 -14 on mine but I shoot 600 yds. what do you want to do with it...

  I want a good group at 300yards for hunting. The field conditions can be bad to say the least. It has to beable to take a beating and still hold zero.

  OK here is an opinion based on your hunting use for the rifle. Two opinions really; I would go with the Leupold fixed 4x (or maybe the 6x) which is (are) quite reasonable. My other scope choice would be a Burris. Take a look at www.bearbasin.com for great prices and good service. I would mount either with Dave Talley bases and rings http://www.talleyrings.com/ You should be set for years of hunting.   Thanks. I will check out the sites you posted for me. I think 6 is more than I want I will check the 4.
