Legal question: selling my high-capacity pistol in CA
Hello,I have just listed my pre-ban high-capacity (15-shot) semi-auto pistol for sale (with additional 15, 20, and 30-shot magazines) but am not totally sure about the law regarding this. I'm in California and from what I read I think I can lawfully sell it to someone either in or out of California, no problem (I must ship UPS/FedEx to a licensed dealer of course). Could someone who knows please confirm/deny that this is so? and let me know anything else I should know but haven't mentioned. Please forgive my ignorance and thank you very much for your assistance. Thanks,Edward

You cannot legally transfer any magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds to any individual in California.[This message has been edited by EOD Guy (edited 04-06-2002).] 0 -
You can sell to an out-of-state buyer & you can sell the gun in state but not with the magazines but there might be an exception for LEOs. You didn't mention the type of pistol. When you mention a thirty round magazine you cause me some concern that what you have might be a pistol where the magazine fits in front of the trigger. That little feature is a big no-no even for the Olympic .22 shorts. 0 -
My pistol was actually a S&W 9mm and the 20 and 30-round mags don't extend in front of the trigger or anything like that, they just are longer than the 15-round mag this pistol normally accepts, extending out the bottom.THANKS FOR YOUR HELP, GUYS! I modified my listing to say I couldn't sell it in California. Thanks,Edward 0
