any experts out there on U.S. fighting knives?
I have a knife that I am curious about and was wondering if anyone might have a clue about its' identity. Let me describe it:I have had it quite some time and it appears to be possibly WWII vintage. The handle looks like K-Bar type with a 7" blade. The scabbard has an OD web loop for attachment to a belt. The outside of the scabbard looks like grey plastic with metal at the very top. On the metal of the scabbard it states USN Mk2. On the back of the metal it states NORD - 8114 and also B.M. Co 1/4 vp. There are similiar markings on the hilt of the knife and also Camilius,NY.any ideas?

I would say your knife was made by Camillus. They made over 2 million fighting and sheath knifes for the government for use in World War 2. It sounds like yours is a Navy Utility knife.Should have 5 rings around the handle. Not a rare item but does have some value. I am more of a pocketknife man myself and don't have a lot of knowledge on sheath knives. Sorry I could'nt be of more help. 0
