I am thinking about buying a G3. Thus, I'm wondering who makes the best rifle, and would appreciate any other hints & tips members might have. Thanks!

Seems like the CETME rifles are fairly popular. My buddies is picking up one this weekend. The only thing I noticed is it looked like the rear site only had 2 settings compared to an HK style which allows for more adjustment . If so, that's a '-' in my opinion.[This message has been edited by GreenLantern (edited 04-02-2002).]

I think for the price the CETME's are a great buy, I mean your practically getting a rifle comparable to $1000+ G3 assault rifles for only $400.

The caveat warning here is that Century quality is variable, I think you're better off buying used from someone who has shot it and can tell you it's good, or getting a warranty from a dealer, cause Century customer service is not known for being wonderful. Century gun assemblers are said to have come from "The Angry Beaver School of Gunsmithing." I have a Century FAL I'm very satisfied with but Century is hit or miss. Find out what the serial number range is on the weapon you want and don't buy a low serial number, wait until they put a couple thousand together, at least.

Andy Griffith ~ You're right! I didn't look close enough at first but was with my buddy today when he picked his up. Then I noticed how the rear site worked.
