Trying to buy a Sig 229
I decided on a Sig 229. I shot one at the range the other day and now I'm hopelessly hooked. I gotta have one!One problem though.... I just cut a check for the missus' Med school and am going to be broke for a good while now that I'm funding her. How can I get one?!?! Patience is not one my my virtues unfortunately and I would really like to avoid putting anything on a credit card. Any advice?

Don't they give money in exchange for blood plasma? Or something like that. I'm guessing there's hundreds of ways to make a few extra $$ for some one who's ambitious. 0 -
Sounds like you're going to have to sell something... 0 -
NOOOO!!! Competentone, don't say that! I can't sell anything! (except the jennings maybe... it'll buy me lunch)Selling plasma would be one way, but do I want a Sig so bad that my arms resemble a heroine junkie? I think I'll pass! Maybe I'll resort to eating Ramen Noodles for a month. That'll do it right?

I, too am wanting a Sig 229 and find myself short on cash. How about we split one?-Marcus 0 -
I too recently decided on a Sig 229. What price range are you talking about? I have shopped around, made a few contacts, and come up with a best price of $689 out the door with taxes and the credit card charge and all. I ordered the stainless model without the night sights. But check around as you can usually dig up someone with an FFL who, making a few bucks, won't ask the same high prices you'll see in the gun stores. I have seen this pistol priced at $830, before taxes, in some stores!!! 0 -
Notpars,$689 out the door, is a fantastic price. I saw one the other day used for $575. If I had the money, I might be able to stop kicking myself for not buying it. The blueing was a little more 'used' than I would have liked, though. 'Normal' retail around here is about $750 + tax.-Marcus-Marcus 0 -
For Gravedigger, I live in Western Missouri east of Kansas City. The store I buy from is on the Truman Lakes about an hour and a half South of here. That makes it a three hour drive. But, the sales taxes down there are much lower, the guy gives me a good deal, he is a very soft spoken former Marine and Vietnam War Vet, and again, one heck of a decent guy. The shops around here are very high and some of the store owners seem indifferent to customers. Sooooooooooo, I drive a little furhter and the guy always takes good care of me! 0 -
In regards to selling plasma . . . Don't do it, it's not worth it. I find it takes too much time out of my day that could be more profitable at a part time job. (If you add up the hours getting there, waiting, having the plasma taken it ammounts to less than minimum wage)Spring is coming on, try mowing a couple of lawns. 0 -
I just got the Sig 229. I decided to adjust my spending. If I want it THAT badly, then I have to be willing to make sacrifices in other arenas. No eating outside the apartment, no movie rentals, no BS food from the 7/11, no bar or alcohol at all, no pay-per view, no laundry service, nothing. If I save a little bit here and there on everything, and avoid random spending, it's easy to save a bit. All of that sounded good to the wife... but I'm still in the doghouse. I "accidently" bought the 226 and 239 so it wouldn't be lonely.christianps. Off I go to mow the block's lawn 0 -
Don't you just hate those 'accidental' gun purchases? What's worse is when you 'accidentley' fill out the yellow form correctly too. ;-) Man, Christian, 3 Sigs? you're gonna be in the doghouse for a WHILE.-Marcus 0 -
Hey Christian, what do you think so far of your 229?
