1899 Savage
How do I date a Model 1899 Savage.303 Savage.? It has a full Octagon barrel with round indicator. I am planning to sell it and was curious about asking price. It is in excellent condition with 90% blue, excellent bore and smooth stock.

It is hard to determine value with this little information. From the description of the barrel and the serial number you most likely are talking about a Model 1899B or 1899 CD. The rifle was built in 1906. Value on the 1899B range from $150.00 in poor condition through $$1100.00 in very good.Value on the 1899CD ranges from $250.00 in poor condition through $2000.00 in very good condition.These are book values only and do not always reflect realistic market value i.e. what someone will pay for them. Also it is rare to find a 1899 rifle that would meet the "very good" condition/value as described. The Savage has uncheckered stock in near perfect condition, metal curved buttplate,flip-up sight(marbles),barrel almost 100% blueing intact,about 80% on action with no rust,has shell count indicator,stock serial# matches rifle serial#. Thats all I can tell you. Thanks for your response. 0
