Old cane gun
I've been asked to identify an old cane-gun. It appears to from about the late 19th century. Very standard plain-looking cane chambered for the .410. It looks like a plain handled Remington except that it carries a London Proof mark. It's a pretty standard twist & pull to open the action with the addition of a gravity cocking mechanism; if the chamber is facing down the trigger will not cock, but if it's facing any other direction, it will.It has a stub trigger which is always extended, but will fold all the way back so that is adjacent to the cane. It has a very small slide safety which disengages the trigger and is situated about where your thumb would be if you were using it as a cane.The only other mark on the gun, beside the serial number (74) is a pair of crossed, basket hilted swords over an acorn. This appears on the barrel and inside the chamber.The guy who owned the gun died in '41 and was born in New Zealand in the 1880's or so and his father went to NZ from Scotland. New idea where on the trail the gun was picked except that it came to Canada with them before the depression.Any help out there?

SP, Your comments are interesting to me because I have been looking at that knife w/ 5 shot 22lr built in. It's been on GB on and off for some time. Are these things legal?Thanks for your opinion,

I don't anything about that cane gun, but cbxjeff those Grad22 "knifes" are legal in USA. I have looked at one and almost bought it but it's kinda big. It needs to have a pocket type "clip" to attach to a belt or something because clearly holser selection is nil and just putting it in you pants pocket would not be very comfortable.Not really a practical item but has "cool" factor of 8.5.
