nikon vs. simmons
Having a hard time deciding what scope to put on my 7mm Mag a-bolt browning. I'm debating between a 3-9x40 or 50 ao Nikon buckmaster or monarch and a 3-9x40 ao or 50 Simmons whitetail expedition. Is the adjustable objective beneficial or not. 50 will be better than 40 right more light. price range $150-$260 Please help me out make a decision!!!Thanks!!!!!

Nikon has my vote. 0 -
I think that Nikon is a better way to go. 0 -
Nikon
Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!0 -
Of those two Nikon hands down. It is unlikely you really need a 50mm objective. It will need higher rings, lifting your cheek off the cheek peice and making accurate shots more difficult. Large objectives make some sense in Europe where the usually shoot in a head up posture and where they hunt at night. You would pobably be better off spending the money on quality, rather than bells and whistles. Again, you probably do not need parallax adjuctment on the objective unless you are shooting really, really long distances, and given the magnification range of 3-9 you probably will not be. Before you buy, take a look at www.bearbasin.com and www.eagleoptices.com for some price comparisons. Go for the Monarch if you can stretch the budget, and also consider a Burris signature. 0 -

NIKON MONARCH!!!! If I needed a new scope tonite, based on what I've used or owned it would be the Monarch series of Nikons!! There is a definite difference in the Buckmaster and Monarch. The sharpness of the Monarch is worth the difference in price and the Buckmaster is still better than any of the bargain scopes!!! The bitterness of low quality remains long after the sweetness of low price has faded!!! GHD 0 -
I went to a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 on a Ruger M77 .308 from a Tasco World Class 3-9x40. The Nikon is a truly awesome scope with tremendous glass that is bright and clear all the way to the edge. It blows the Tasco out of the water and I believe it would the Simmons too. Go with the Nikon and don't look back.

Hope you guys never have to have them Nicons repaired, they do NOT stand by their warenty. I tryed once to get one repaired FORGET IT, No more Nicons for me. and they will not stand up to the recoil of the big Mag rifles. 0 -
I would check out the new weaver grand slams, nice optics for the money!
