i was wondering about how much it would cost to deck out a springfield in a ww2 sniper look for reenacting

Most WWII snipers were the 1903A4, as depicted in "Saving Private Ryan", or the M1C.Start with a 1903A3. A decent one will cost $500; drilling holes for the scope mount will drop that value to $100, so try to get one that someone else has ruined. Redfield Jr mounts and rings (recent commercial ones should be available) can be installed by drilling & tapping. A Weaver 330S scope (3/4" diameter) will cost $150, but a similar Model 29 may only cost $50.Neal
