K 98 Mauser
I have a German K 98 Mauser. The blueing is about 75%+ and the metal is in great shape, on the right side of the receiver it says model 98 and has the small stamp of a eagle over a swastica, the top of the receiver is stamped byf over 42 and has capitol letter P stamped several times and is also stamped the same on the barrel, the stock was shortened but the but plate #s match the rifle, there are waffenants stamped all over the rifle and also on the stock cross bolt and stock disc, almost every peice of the rifle is numbered and they all match even the fireing pin, there are no import marks, the bore has strong rifleing, I wanted to know if anyone knew what the letter P is for and about how much a rifle like this is worth now and how much if I replaced the stock with another original type stock and used the matching but plate and stamped cross bolt and stock disc. the stock was the only thing altered and the rest of the rifle is still all original.

This rifle does NOT have a Yugoslavian crest on it. 0 -
Would also like to know a good place to purchase a nice stock at a reasonable price. 0 -

byf is the code for Mausers Oberndorf factorythe rifle was made in 1942just a little trivia for you 0 -
Why would you want to replace the stock? If you have an all matching gun, why screw it up?Matt 0 -
The stock was modified by cutting the fore arm shorter but the butplate has matching #s and the waffenamp stamps are on the stock disc and cross bolt wich could all be used on a replacement stock. 0 -
