Have a Yugo SKS that won't cycle. At first it was firing a shot and then stovepiping. I cleaned it real good and now it just fires one shot at a time, no noticeable bolt movement at all.

I believe the gas valve is in the correct position (down) as this allows the gas into the gas tube, thereby causing the action to cycle. I admit I didn't try it with the valve in the up position, but it appears that would block the gas escape hole. I cleaned it well before firing it.

Also, it's very difficult pulling the bolt back by hand after firing.

Duane did you disengage the gas tube cut-off? This is the little button at the front of the gas tube. This is found only on the Yugo for the purpose of launching grenades. It blocks any of the gases from going anywhere, but down the barrel, not up and back the gas tube to cycle your rifle.

Take the upper handguard off and see if you have that intermediate operating rod and spring. Clean out the gas port.

While taking the upper handguard off make sure the gas piston is even in there. You can't miss it. If the "Yugo" gas cutoff is properly adjusted, the gas port is open and clean, and the piston and intermediate rod w/ spring are in place, then i just dunno.
