Reloading the 7mm-08
My Rem. mdl. 7 will put 3 shots around an inch consistantly at 100 yds. with factory Rem. 140 gr. core-lokts. I have tried to duplicate or better this with handloads without success.I have tried several powders with the Hornady 139 gr. btsp ,but nothing has been very good. This is the only rifle i have ever owned that i couldn,t (better) factory ammo accuracy.Anyone have any ideas on a good load for this bullet? I realize every rifle is different, but would like some ideas.Thanks.

first off, try a box of federal premium 140gr nosler balistic tips. Mine groups them very well. If that is the case with yours, work your loads with these bullets. The ogive on the BT's lends itself to a different load design. Just a thought. I get one hole with em. 0 -
Since you have a Rem model 7 with a short barrel, try using a quicker burning powder such as IMR 4895. It was the most accurate in my 7mm-08. 0 -
I mostly use a 130 Speer boattail and IMR4064 with mine.KC 0 -
Out of all my rifles I like the model 7 the best for hunting deer.I use hornady light mag.139 gr.btsp interlock bullets, they shoot under a inch group, and have great knock down power. 0 -
try the 140 nbt with hogdon varget powder 0
