Hi, I have 3 with the 6-7/8 barrel.A 1951 Red Eagle MK1,A 1976 200TH year MK1,and a 1982 MK2. This is my favorite barrel length.I have other Ruger 22 auto pistols, but I shoot this one best.Mine feeds everything with no problems.I have a friend that has shot nothing but CCI Stingers for over 20 years with never a problem.Just keep them clean, and they keep humming.Any gun that has been production for 53 years has to be good.Dr.Evil

Dandy; You have a pistol that's awfully difficult to hurt or to beat! Shoot anything you want in it, even mixed loads in the magazine; it will ALWAYS work! Clean only when and if the action gets cruddy. Do NOT, I say again, do NOT disassemble. You will be sorry if you do (reassembly is a bear), and it is entirely unnecessary.Have fun, be carefulMorty

If you can't put a Markll together you most likely shouldn't handle firearms period!!

You are right Smokey14 ,There is a trick to assembly and once you learn it,you'll still have trouble.

Dandy, You've done good. You'll have "tons of fun" with your new purchase. Don't be misled by the disparaging remarks concerning disassembly. Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. Try this site for helpful info on Ruger's.http://www.ontargetguns.com/Enjoy.Tideman

That true Dandy,Disassembly is tricky the first, maybe second time, but after that, it's pretty easy. You bought one of the best 22's ever built. I have a couple myself and have shot everything through it, including the Aguilla super maximum hyper velocity stuff @ ~+1700fps (don't remember the actual fps, but I am sure it's atpund there). I don't shoot that stuff all day, but it's fun when I do. My kids and I mostly go though a brick or two of Walmart's Federal ammo, so have a blast and be safe. GD

I have found when the pistols are new,and still very tight they can be hard to take apart, and put back together. The more you use them, the easier they to work on.I take mine apart every 500 rounds and give them a good cleaning. You can also take the grips off,and shoot with brake clean while wearing gloves, and safety glasses.Dry well,Oil pistol, and put the grips back on.Brake clean is about 1/3 the cost of spray gun cleaner. It don't hurt to buy a few extra parts so when a spring flys away,or you drop something and lose it.Just my 2 cents worth,Dr.Evil

I am a new shooter with a Ruger Mkll SS Slabside Barrel and am working my way through the available brands to see what ammo shoots best. The Remington Thunderbolts from Wally World suck as I had a lot of jams and 2% misfires. The other Federal cheapies from Wally were about the same. The last ones I shot were Winchester SuperX and they seemed to be a little better. The Wally World bricks for $8 something were recommended by an associate as he said they woked well in his 22/45I am noticing some scuff marks on the bolt so maybe I am in the breakin period??. I am going this PM so I will see how SuperX does today. As far as disassembly is concerned I had trouble inserting the main spring housing latch in far enough to complete reassembly but after I learned this trick it was easy.If you have children in the house and you reassemble the pistol with the hammer strut trapped the bolt cannot be operated. This step is no substitute for secure storage or firearm safety but it is nice to know small hands cannot work the bolt.

I have a copy of Ram Line's "Reassembling a Ruger Mark I or II in 60 seconds or Less!!" as a jpg. If anyone is interested in it, send me an email and I will send you the photos.
