Which is better turkey gun?
Can't decide between a Benelli Nova and a Mossberg 835. Any opinions?

835 should be renamed MULE with 3.5 in shell..I ended up trading mine for my Rem. 870 0 -
Well I love the Benelli's autos, but in a pump I own 3 835's. They are workhorses,they just plain work. They do kick but not any worse than anyother pump gun,and there ported. Barrels are much cheaper than the remingtons and the quality is better I think. I have some friends that own the nova's I still prefer the 835.

On a side note Bass Pro had the advantave timber model on sale for $329.00, btw a 3.5 will kick in any gun. "see shoulder hamburger post"

does it have to be those two?? I have a Browning bps 10 ga. hit them hard and with lots of it.

Yeah, why those 2. I have 3 10 guages and enjoy them more than any wimpy little 12 3.5". You can get a BPS in 10 for just a few more bucks than the 835 or the Nova.

Hi fudd; I have owned 3 different 835, like every one says, they are a good gun for the money. Lots of different chokes and sights, you will enjoy either gun though. I have a super black eagle on order right now but still know that the 835 is with me will be a comfort. Don't discount the benelli nova, I don't own one but I almost bought one instead of the SBE. They are about the same price a the mossy, just a little lighter so I suggest the recoil compensators. Don't let aglore talk you into a 10ga, As far as I know their aint no turkeys in Alaska and its real expensive to shoot skeet with a 10ga. With the 12 ga you have the option. stir stir stir

Hunter, If you get the chance get the recoil reducer for your new Benelli. It does make a difference! Have fun, be safe, and stay away from the 10ga!!

Were did all of these 835 fans come from? The last posts that included mossbergs said nothing good about them. Anyhoo, the nova is a great pump gun. You wont need the recoil reducer. It works, but save your money. Just wear an extra shirt. 0
