The description of the malfunction needs to be expanded. Was the malfunction "short recoil," where the bolt does not go back far enough to pickup the next round? Or was the malfunction where the bolt was stopped by the round base while trying to strip the next round from the magazine? If the former, then I suspect weak ammunition. If the latter, then I suspect the lacquer-coated steel cases are sticking on the Mini-14 magazine feed lips, possibly aided by a weak recoil spring on this Mini.As an aside, I once bought some reloads that were loaded too lightly, but they would work my Mini-14 and not my Colt AR-15 Carbine, which exhibited "short recoil." I therefore concluded that the Mini-14 design is more tolerant of pressure variations than an AR-15. It could be that was the case with my two rifles only, but their gas system designs lead me to conclude that characteristic would apply to all Mini-14s and AR-15s.

Hello Judge,I believe it's "short recoil". Bolt won't even go back enough to strip the next round. I've noticed also that these Wolf's had a more dud sound, so might have been a bad batch. I've shot a couple hundred more rounds of the surplus Malyasian ammo without a problem since.I've shot alot of Wolf's in the past with the same gun and another mini I have without any problems, so think that these new batch were duds. It's hard to avoid the Wolf's for plinking because they are so cheap. Surplus ammo are cheap also, but not that cheap. I bought a few battle packs of those South African's, so I hope they perform as well as the Malaysian's I'm running out of, which I can't seem to find anymore. So as far as I am concerned, the Wolf's are still okay and I still intend on using them for plinking only. I just wanted to know if others ran into a lot with the same problem. Thanks, GD
