S&W Old
I have a 4" S&W blue steel revolver. it has NO model number in the strap and the printing of "SMITH & WESSON" on the barrel is different from the newer models. it is larger and the "&" is elongated. pinned barrel and serail number is C (huge space) then 5 digits. does anyone have any info on thses guns. like when were they made and value?Thanks Dave

Sounds like a "Pre-Model 10" Military & Police K-frame revolver made before 1957 to me. 0 -
Are there ANY numbers marked on it? What is the S/N? The C series started on March 22,1948 and ran until Nov 27,1967. That would most likely be the model you have and that would make it an early Model 10 as that model designation was started Feburary 11,1948.Blue bbook puts one in 90% at about $150. I know I have seen them anywhere from $125-$225 depending upon condition and who is selling and buying

I thought model numbering did not start until 1957? 0 -
They did not start STAMPING the model number in the yoke until 1957. Some of the models DID start before that without the stamp, the 10 is one of them. All models that had not already started the number model were converted at that time.
