Black Eagle has a two piece receiver, the lower portion is aluminum, the upper is steel....it's nice to have a scope mounted for slugs and slip the entire upper off with barrel then put a second receiver and shot barrel on for birds.M1 has a one piece receiver, if you want a scope mounted, drill & tap or have it mounted on the barrel.I have both, enjoy them both....you can't go wrong with either one. The Black Eagle is the most accurate slug gun I've ever shot.Nova is a pump gun, haven't any experience with this one. Hope this helps...

Rembrant is right on, The only other thing to point out is the SBE is chambered for 3.5 and the M-1's are 3in. The nova has a composite stock/reciever with a steel liner, and it will handle the 3.5. The nova does have some features not found in other pumps, but in a pump gun I still like the 835 ulti mag. Anyway its hard to beat a Benneli auto.

Gentlemen; the M1 now comes with the 3 1/2 chamber. Is there a big price difference? You guys are hard on the pocket book, first all I wanted was a pump. Once again I'm looking at the big bucks, oh well, life is to short to worry about the little sh!t. More info... please feed the bear!

NOT REALLY. I would suggest staying away from the competition stuff unless you hunt dove in argentina or shoot clay matches with them. I have the competition models but if you are strictly an american bird hunter, they are a little pricey. Look at the super 90 and the montefeltro's. They seem to be the standard for wing shooting benelli's. SBE is nice if you need 3 1/2" shells. I don't use them so I opted to save a couple hundred$$

JustC My main use of the gun is turkey hunting, second is goose, third is duck, forth is everything else including busting clays. I really need the 3.5 for most of my shooting.

The M-1 only comes with a 3in chamber unless they haven't posted it on there web site yet, I haven't seen or heard of one. The Nova pump has a 3.5in chamber. www.benelliusa.com/our_products/ I would recommend anyone you choose, but if you still wanting a pump check out the 835 It will save you some cash and will perform just as good.

Hunter280man, I can show you a YOUTH MODEL 870 20 guage that has killed 39 longbeards, an 870 Special Purpose(First Year Made) in 12 that has killed geese and ducks untill you had to make extra trips to carry them out and doves that if it wasn't a limit would have probably still exceeded it!! What the heck do you need 3.5 inches of shell for? Just a little lightheartedfun!! I want an SBE too!!!!!! GHD

First of all I'm sorry about the M1 I missread the benelli sight chart, secondly I already have a 835 crown grade. Third, and I quote a greater being: "The only reason I use a 3.5 is because they don't make a 4 inch; YET!" Ok the SBE is my final answer! Now don't keep changing my mind on me! Its not that strong and is starting to hurt! I see a couple on the auction; here we go! Thanks to every one, love hugs and kisses! Mark

hunter280man, I saw one the other day, Ducks Unlimited model, the lady won it at a banquet and would not take less than 1000.00 for it!! I offered her 8 crisp c'notes but she wouldn't take it!! I'll go back in a couple weeks and I'll have the other 2 to go with them!!!!

hunter280man, Have you seen the "PATTERN MASTER" choke in the cabelas catalog? I know it's $80 but, it is absolutely wicked. I have witnesses to turkey kills "d!ck in the dirt" at 60yds with it. It is also recommended for steel shot. I would say that this investment will pay for itself very quickly. Just a little side note for a fellow turkey hunter.

JustC; My hunting partner was looking at them last year. The only reason we didn't give it a try was the description braggs up the buckshot. I hadn't any idea how good it patterned on the 6's or 5's. We use the Mad Max tubes, like you said, dead dick in the dirt! Good to 60 yrds but we try to keep it around 30 or less, most kills are around 15 yards!

I bought a Nova last year a couple of weeks before dove season opened. I'v owned a whole slew of shotguns, but this nova outshot them all. I didnt like it at first, kinda chucky looking, it's great on flying targets tho. I haven't shot paper with it or clay's yet, but from the way it preformed on the doves, I have high hopes.Haven't used any of the Benelli autos. Steve

Thanks Duncan; Your the first to speak up on the nova. Does the gun look like it will wear long? My freinds thought That the nova might wear out fast. I didn't know, but if I purchase a nova I can keep the old 835. Just anothe added plus to the deal!

I have had the Nova for almost 4 years. I would guess that 75% of roughly 1500 rnds have been 3 1/2". Never had a problem with the Nova. I have had the SBE for about 2 years. Best shotgun I have ever had. Jammed once, my fault. The price differences are noticeable, i just depends on whichh gun will suit you the best.
