Anyone know if these are reliable and why was the .40 no longer being made? Do they make a .45 and how many rds does it hold?

  I have a .40, and it seems reliable. I had to send it back to Kel-Tec when I first got it, because it jammed. Since then I hhave shot a thousand rounds through it, and it has not jammed once. I do not think they make a .45, and I do not know why they stopped making the .40. Overall, I like my P40

  I have a p-32 and P-11. They are both inexpensive but well built weapons. Mine are for concealed carry so I have bet my life on their reliability.Check them out at www.ktog.org.

  I bought a P-32 about two months ago. Judge Colt kind of talked me into it with his positive posts about them. My only complaint is it's just too small for my big hand. I wear a size 18 ring, and the finger just doesn't fit in the trigger guard very well. All in all, It seems to be a nice little gun otherwise!

  I too have wondered why the .40 was dropped. Someone told me it was because of slides cracking. Another told me it was because of heavy recoil. I do not know. I do recall that Kel-Tec supposedly dropped the true stainless P11 because the type of stainless used made the slides crack after heavy use from some hole or cut. My guess is that the same problem showed up with carbon steel in the .40. Since I doubt the .40 was a big seller, I speculate that it was just easier to drop it than re-engineer the slide. Sorry dheffley, but a small gun tends to be small! Hope you like it otherwise. Do not be afraid to take your grinder to the trigger guard. If you do not like what you end up with, that is an inexpensive part to replace. You could even get a different color if you want! I reshaped the triggers on my P11 and P32 by heating and grinding them (they are polymer too), and you could do the same to your P32. By changing the shape of the triggers (I straightened mine to take away most of the "hook," which tended to pinch my finger) and opening up the trigger guard, you may find you then have more room for your finger.

  I have carried a p-11 with the 40 S&W coversion kit for several years without problem. I found a Chrome p-40 in a gun store this weekend and bought it. The dealer said he had found 4 of these and I was the third buyer that day. I shot it today with several different reloads and it functioned well. I shot 175 gr lead swc. That is a round that gives feeding problems in several of my 40 S&W guns. No problem with the P-40.
