SA Defender National Match
Just exactly what does the term "National Match" mean in relation to the frame on this weapon? The serial number begins with the letters "NM" and it was pointed out to me that this was a good thing (no, it wasn't Martha Stewart). Appreciate any info.

i have the same pistol its a springfield armory "NM" model- i asked this question a couple of weeks ago and i got no response to speak of either, ask a question about an AR-15 or an SKS and some of these "comic book guy from the simpsons only with guns" nerds will answer you in a matter of minutes however ask a question thats not common knowledge and alot of time you get nothing. sorry i cant help. 0 -
jb123 - Thanks anyway. I'm surprised that this gang is stumped. I've never askd one yet that someone couldn't answer. Oh well, always a first time. 0 -
I think that the "NM" on Springfield pistols stands for New Model....... 0 -
I took mine to a guy who does a lot of work on 1911A1 types. He's the one that called my attentin to it. I've had the pistol for ten years and do not remember the "NM" being part of the sales pitch. It really doesn't matter since it's a good shooter and I have no intention of getting rid of it. I was just wondering. I'll pick up the gun in a few weeks and ask then if I don't get an answer before. I'll pass on what I learn. 0
