.280 Ackley dies
A few months ago I posed a question to this forum about re-barreling an action that I had. I went with the .280 Ackley, but I haven't shot it yet. Still waiting for the stock to get here. I'm looking into dies for this rifle and would like some recommendations. The rifle will be used for hunting and I'm doubt I'll ever do any type of competition shooting with it. I'm looking into the Redding dies and was wondering if the Type S bushing dies offer any significant benefit over the standard die sets for my intended purpose. Also, how does one go about determining the correct bushing sizes. Thanks,

you determine the correct bushing size by trial and error. although you can measure cases before and after sizing and determine what size should work, that may not be the bushing size that will give the best accuracy. if all your going to do with your 280 ackley is hunt i would just use a standard die from rcbs or redding and stay away from the bushing dies. any improvement in accuracy wouldn't be worth the time and money involved. 0 -
I just use the redding custom series dies for my 280 ackley and it will put 10 bullets through a hole at 100yds that you can cover with far less than a dime. That is taking into account that it is not the average rifle. Go for the regular redding dies, they are superb quality 0 -
