colt diamondback
I inherited a pristeen 22 cal diamondback with a 6 inch barrel from my dad and I was wondering what it would be worth. I doubt it's had 100 rounds thru it. Any thoughts?

I see people asking $600+ for these. The 6" guns seem to be a little harder to find than the 4" models. Scan the listings and you'll get a good idea. 0 -
The Blue Book of Gun Values shows this gun to be worth $780 in 100% condition. This would mean in the condition you described with all original paperwork in the box it came in. However, this is a short production gun and I have seen several of them sell since the first of the year for more than $900. Quite a few are being advertised in publications such as Gun List and on a Classified Ad site for guns for $900 to as much as $1,100. Whether they are selling for these prices is another matter. I had a complete set of blue and nickel in 4-inch and 6-inch, .22 and .38, plus blue 2.5-inch .22 and .38. Sold or traded them all, except for the 2.5-inch .22 blue, my favorite. I still cannot believe what they are bringing NOW. The were a hard sell in the 1970s and 1980s, same with Pythons. If I had all the guns I ever sold, I would sell them again now and retire! I guess we don't do this for the money, but it helps us feel better when the value grows greatly as it has with the Diamondbacks.I have to correct the above. I sold or traded my Diamondbacks at least 20 years ago, and I was sure I had blue and nickel 4-inch and 6-inch in both .22 and .38, but, upon reflection, I think I am thinking of nickel Pythons (which I no longer have either). I had Diamondbacks in 4-inch and 6-inch blue in .22 and .38, 6-inch .22 in nickel, and 2.5-inch blue in .22 and .38. The only one I have left is the 2.5-inch .22, which is a good one to keep as well. Sorry about the error, but I guess I got to feeling too sorry for myself when thinking about current values, and engaged too much in "what might have been." I's say it's worth a hundred bucks and offer you that for it but then I couldn't sleep at night. My fellow responders have the price right. I saw a nickel 4" 38 spl at a recent gun show for $750.00. Got my attention because I have on just like it my wife paid$275.00 for back in 1977. You go a keeper.Vegetarian is an old indian term for "poor hunter". 0
