Carry .45's? What do you carry?
my 23rd birthday is comming up, and god i feel old, i just saw a commercial for E.T. comming back in the theaters for the 20th anniversary, I remembered seeing it in the theater. So in order to make myself feel young I'm thinking about getting my carry permit. However my beretta 92 is too big to carry.... So I'm looking for suggestions on what .45 to get. What are the Pros and Cons?So far i have only really noticed the Glock 30. 1911's don't fit my hand well, they are too narrow. I personally carry an HK USP 45, but then I am 6' 5" and 300ish so I have more room to hide it. HK makes a compact 45 that is a little smaller, though you would have to find a used one to stay in your price range. Para ordnance makes several "carry size" 45's including one in DA to address Saxon's correct concerns regarding SA pistols in as he referred to condition one which I presume to mean cocked and locked. In Yakima Washington, currently there are several used compact Para's for sale in the $475 to $500 range. Good luck in your search. 0 -
Saxon,what i meant was...The Beretta is too big overall,1911's, whether compact or not, are too narrow for my hands, i would really like a 1911 if i can get some thicker grips (i have big hands).Para Ordanance huh?....maybe i will take another look at that style...Thanks. 0 -
If you like 45's try a double stack frame like Para or Kimber; 1911 style with wider grip.Roy 0 -
Kadaver, I have the same problem. My hands are large and a 1911 with standard grips does not "fit" my hand well. I experimentedwith several different grips and finally settled on Hogue rubber grips with the finger grooves. I have three 1911 style pistols and all three have Hogues on them.Not as pretty as some of the other choices, but they really work for me....Good luck 0 -
