    It would be my opinion these old guns were made "before + P ammo" and what little extra you would get might not be worth "pushing the limit" of these older guns. If it were mine, I would only use "factory loads" without the +P rated loads.

    The 158 gn bullet is not too strong so long as you keep with a target shooting load level of your powder, simply a light load. I use the 158 in 38 long colt for this type gun and load light. I also load a .357 158gn bullet in a 38 spl with a 3.2gn load of Accurate Arms # 2 and have used them in the 38 colt army. It is very difficult to get 38 long colt brass, I know as I have tried, for reloading, so I have loaded the light 38special as well.
    The second admendment GUARANTEES the other nine and the Constitution!
