comparison of finishes

A previous topic dealt with the superior durability of the stainless guns over those having a blued finish. I'm wondering what experienced contributors here have found concerning the durability of the older nickel finish. Does it outlast bluing, other factors being equal, or is there no discernible difference? What erosive or corrosive influences are most damaging to it?
