I came across a rifle for $25 so I couldn't pass it up. I would like to refinish it however I must get more info on it. The side of the borrow reads 1914, on top it say 30-06 then some Chinese/Japanese letters that read 99. So I'm assuming it's a Japanese Type 99 rifle, however after searching the internet I'm unable to find these rifles of a .30-06 calibor they are all 7.7. So anyone have any ideas?

You won't see one on the manufacturer web site since the Stevens 325 was made from 1947 - 1950. J. Stevens Arms of Chicopee Falls Mass, became a division of Savage quite a while back and you'll encounter a lot of firearms with both names. This rifle is pretty much identical to the Savage 340 ut I don't know how interchagable parts are. Value in the $200 range - of course, it could be more or less. Regards, tilapia

    Thank you for the information.
